A cooling and soothing miracle plant: the peppermint

This herb is liked by so many people not only because of its pleasant menthol scent. Peppermint has many beneficial effects and has long been used in healing, gastronomy and for aromatherapy purposes as well.

Oral care and hygiene

It is most commonly encountered as an ingredient in mouthwashes, toothpastes and chewing gums. In addition to its cooling menthol scent, the herb also contributes to the healthy teeth and mouth: thanks to its antibacterial effect, it prevents the growth of bacteria. This reduces the risk of dental decay, gum disease, bad breath and the chance of development of other oral hygiene problems.

Hint: Rinse twice a day, after brushing your teeth, with peppermint tea to support the health and hygiene of your mouth.

Skin beautifying and anti-inflammatory

Due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, peppermint is effective in treating skin problems (such as pimples). However, it is important to note that its essential oil can irritate sensitive skin surface, therefore, test it in the elbow joint before using it - if your skin becomes red or itchy there, don’t experiment with it on your face either.

Hint: Boil a portion of peppermint tea, then drip it on a cotton pad and rub it over your face every night before going to bed. It cools, cleans and soothes the skin in a natural way.

It works wonders in stressful situations.

Why is it worth breathing peppermint essential oil on the morning of a busy day? Because it calms the nerves, improves memory and helps with concentration. This herb can also come in handy when taking an exam as it can also eliminate sickness, nausea and discomfort caused by a headache - even if it is a migraine. This is because peppermint relaxes tense muscles, stimulates blood circulation and is able to dissolve spasms, thus it also relieves complaints caused by a stomach shrinking as a result of anxiety.

Hint: Drink a cup of peppermint tea or suck peppermint medicinal candies before stressful situations and let the anxiety go away on its own.

Peppermint for clear breathing

Why did we choose this essential oil for our inhalers? Because it has a strong aroma, thus it cleanses and refreshes the airway. It has a beneficial effect on respiration, and due to its antibacterial properties it can help reduce the unpleasant symptoms caused by respiratory diseases. It is for a good reason that peppermint tea is also recommended for relieving the symptoms of colds.
